Lithuanian Beer
Kalnapilis Brewery

Kalnapilis in Lithuanian means “a castle on a hill”.
In 1994 the Kalnapilis brewery established a joint venture with Baltic Beverages Holding, which allowed Kalnapilis to be brought up to the most modern brewing standards in the world. Kalnapilis celebrated its 95th anniversary in 1997 and thanks to the modernization of the brewery became the Number 1 beer on the Lithuanian market. Kalnapilis is serious about the taste of its beer. Just how serious? Kalnapilis labels contain indicators – when the beer is cooled to the right serving temperature, the contour of a dark glass appears on a white background – so that consumers may enjoy the best taste of Kalnapilis at the correct serving temperature. This proves how seriously Kalnapilis thinks of preserving the taste of its beer. Kalnapilis beer has a light, pale, good for everyday, refreshing taste and is excellent at quenching the heartiest thirst. Kalnapilis beer is perfect for those who seek to lead a distinguishing, unconventional way of life, free from restraints and stereotypes. Pick up some Kalnapilis and taste the best that Lithuania has to offer.

7:30
Strong, pale beer. During the process of deep fermentation well-matured hops and light coloured malt result in full-bodied, slightly sweetish taste and mellow aroma of 7.30. Our strongest beer, Kalnapilis 7.30, has an especially strong aroma. The distinct flavour marvellously matches the higher volume of alcohol. A mug of pale, cold Kalnapilis 7.30 is for those looking for a stronger impression.
Original
Kalnapilis Original has an especially rich and harmonious flavor while its foam is sturdy and long-lasting. Feel the unique flavor and aroma that seems like it is straight out of the keg.
Grand
Kalnapilis Grand produced step by step, patiently and thoroughly, from clear water, select hops, and the highest quality barley. And then wait. Thus, by slowly aging the beer, it gets a grand, mature flavour. That is why it is call Kalnapilis Grand.

Brewery Rinkuskiai
Birzai region has been known as the capital of Lithuanian brewers. Beer has been produced here for many centuries. There are 4 large breweries and many small breweries in Birzai region that produce more than 15 mln liters of beer per year for just 35 thousand population of Birzai! Birzai people have deep beer drinking traditions and one person drinks as much as 160 litres of beer per year! No festival or family parties start and end without rich beer whose taste usually deceives guests thinking that the beer is very light. Unfortunately, they find themselves ending the party too early… If you have never visited Lithuania it is worth to come here and see kind and merry people of Birzai region and drink a nice glass of good traditional beer. Cheers!
Brewery Rinkuskiai was established in the year 1991 in Birzai region known as Beer Country in Lithuania. The brewery stands No 5 in the market right after four largest breweries in Lithuania.
Rinkuskiai beer is natural. Only pure high quality water, original yeast, hops and traditional light malt is used for production. For some brands caramel malt is used. No pees, rice and other non-malt products are used for Rinkuskiai beer production.
Rinkuskiai beer quality is the result of old traditions of Beer Country, experience of the past generations, and innovations of the modern days. That makes Rinkuskiai beer one of the most exclusive in Lithuania.

Euro 9.5%
This interesting selection pours a very clear, brilliant gold with tons of tight rising carbonation. The soapy, egg shell white head holds well and leaves some decent, spotty lace. Certainly characteristic of a quality lager. Aroma is actually very nice. Lots of sweet malt, apple, corn, some faint hops, coriander and a splash of citrus and honey mixed in for good measure.  Smooth, mellow and very well balanced. Slick and a bit creamy taste in the finish. Extremely well crafted.
Euro Pale
Golden crystal clear color with a thin white head. Aroma is lightly spicy, lightly sweet, but fairly benign, it would probably go great with lobster as it is not a very flavorful beer and would not overpower the subtle sweet flavor of the lobster. Cheers!
White Porter
It taste like porter, it smells like porter but is not dark. This beer is brewed traditional porter way but with out adding malt to make it dark.
Baltic Porter  Dark Ale 8.2%
Pours with a tall lingering froth. Beautiful caramel, copper color. Wispy beige head.  Complex smell. Aromas of sweet malts, spicy hops, wet hay, plum, brown sugar. Taste is complex too. Flavor of rich sweet malts,  caramel. Lots of toffee.  Full nectar with good carbonation. Hides the alcohol very well. A mild malty sweetness ensues as the werewolf attacks with its high abv. Nice chewy texture. Overall it has an earthy presence and finishes dry bittered nicely.
 Euro Pale Lager 5.2%

One ancient Lithuanian legend tells the story of a young man who was in love with a girl of exceptional beauty.  Alas, he knew not how to win her heart.  But he did have old family recipes for brewing some extraordinary beers, for they came from his great-great-great-grandmother, allegedly a witch.  And the young man decided to treat the object of his affection to one of these concoctions and brewed it himself, employing the lover-enchanting recipe.  One night the fair maiden tasted the freshly-made beer and, to our lad’s great horror, transformed into a wolf right on the spot. Apparently the young man somehow mixed  the witch’s recipes…
Zghuli Grande 9.5% and 12%
Pale straw gold body, perfectly transparent. Ultra thin, quickly gone white carby head. Aroma has a nice light faint sweetness that is quite pleasant. You can almost get a slight banana aroma with a bit of corn. Taste has a nice sharp bitterness yet not a speck of hop aroma or flavor. Finishes light-sweet with the same lingering bitterness that has been since the beginning along with a very warming finish. Very drinkable, enjoyable and refreshing.

Before and After 4.7% & 12%
Golden yellow color. Decent white head. Low retention level. Light lacing. Light banana smell tones. Good corn malts in the nose. Light sweetness. Serious corn malts, slight sweet breakfast malt flavor. Light to medium body. Solid carbonation level. Clean and crisp, very mellow. Very drinkable and pleasant lager. Not bad for warm weather or just something light. Named after Grand Duke Gediminas, a founder of the Gand Duchy of Lithuania. read more aboit it at this site:

Zaibo
Pours a pretty, clear copper/gold color with a light fluffy but quickly deflating white head. Very small amount of lacing. It smells of light fruit scents. Mostly apple, pear, and strawberry. Some malt scents, as well as a noticeable alcohol presence. Light and spicy citrus flavor right up front, disperses into a very sweet caramel with a small amount of citrus. Hops and caramel linger lightly in the aftertaste. A tiny hint of lemon slips in when everything else is gone. Light and spicy from the carbonation, but with enough body to not be watery. Plenty of potent flavor. You can't taste the abv at all. Very smooth and a somewhat bitter finish.
Yershistoe
Pours a clear golden straw colow with a creamy white head that thins. Mild lacing on the glass. Adjunct laden aroma, lots of rice along with some light malt tones. Some light hop notes. Tastes like it smells. Sweet upfront with a bit of malt and a bunch of rice. Mild bitterness, faint hop presence. Sweet finish. Medium-full body, ample carbonation.
Aiko Stiprus
Pours a nice clear amber color with a hint of orange and little white head. Smell of malt and barley. On the tongue and in the mouth, the beer is crisp and refreshing. There is a bit of fruitiness in the flavor. A mild herbal bitterness helps balance some of the sweetness, but still quite sweet and sticky. Alcohol is very well concealed. A good amount of malts and barley give the beer a sweet taste that does an excellent job of masking the 9.5 abv.
Cocka-too
Cocka-too, a naturally fermented high-alcohol lager harmoniously combined with pure pomegranate juice, is the most unique beer ever brewed. Cocka-too brew retains the pomegranate’s purported flavor, character and qualities. Pomegranate is the most celebrated, fascinating, mysterious, and one of the oldest fruits in the world. As a matter of fact, it is a favorite fruit for parrots. This is why this beer is called Cocka-too. Enjoy this unique delicious beer and discover the mythical secrets of the pomegranate, going back to the ancient world and biblical times when people believed that the pomegranate was the fruit of paradise. Taste the mystery and be happy!

Gedimino
Golden yellow color. Decent white head. Low retention level. Light lacing. Light banana smell tones. Good corn malts in the nose. Light sweetness. Serious corn malts, slight sweet breakfast malt flavor. Light to medium body. Solid carbonation level. Clean and crisp, very mellow. Very drinkable and pleasant lager. Not bad for warm weather or just something light. Named after Grand Duke Gediminas, a founder of the Gand Duchy of Lithuania.
Bierjue
The taste is sweet, and unforgettable, some of the cinnamon roll flavor comes thought.
This is a strange beer. It pours with a decent finger of foam, then fades. The smell is sweet cooked grain, and caramelized sugars. Color is a nice deep reddish amber. Very sweet and grainy like a German Bock.

Zhigulevskoe
The Lithuanian version of everyone's favourite Russian lager.
Based on special barley malt and aroma hops.

Missing Elf
This is seasonal beer but we do have some left over from Christmas time.
Brilliantly crystal clear. It's a golden honey color with little bubbles floating up. A light creamy head forms at first, then fades to small clumps of bubbles around. Starts with a light crisp lager like nose, with hints of honey and sweet malts. Digger deeper reveals the slightest hints of European malts, touches of alcohol sweetness, almost Belgian candy sugar, and quite a bit like a Belgian triple.
Starts pretty sweet, as one would expect. More European/Belgian like malt. Some bitterness starts to come through a bit and it starts to dry off very fast long before the sip is even finished. Some honey flavors come out, and fermented honey dryness. Some interesting earthy flavors come out as well that I can't really say where they are from, perhaps the yeast, and adds almost the faintest hint of metal. It hides the alcohol pretty well with the initial sweetness, and you only get the slightest alcohol warmth.
Very dry but still slightly sticky. It leaves your mouth fresh feeling like mouthwash even though there was no initial alcohol burn your mouth feels it after, with a touch of stickiness. It also has that earthy bitterness lingering a bit as well. The honey flavor seems to linger as well for a while and presents that dry feel and even dry flavor. It's also pretty dangerous as halfway through the beer you can already feel it getting on top of you being 9.5% and doesn't feel like it at all.
Wielka Sila
Polish Authentic Recipe
Orange-gold. Smell is of rich full caramel malt and well straw. The taste is of fruity esters in a rich caramel brew. Alcohol flavor is not prevalent despite 12% ABV.

Standard Imperial 12

Looks like a dark mead, fairly clear. The smell is remarkably mild given the strength of the flavor and the high alcohol. The hops are very balanced, giving it a mild floral flavor with some spice, but very understated. Not overly yeasty - again very balanced. Strong alcohol flavor. You'll know you're getting a 11.9% beer here with a small sip. Overall, the flavor is outstanding.

ŠVYTURYS BREWERY
Is the oldest operating brewery in Lithuania. It was established in 1784. During the few centuries the beer produced in Klaipėda brewery became popular not only among the people who live on the coast, but among all citizens of Lithuania. The skills of ŠVYTURYS brewers were prized with the first gold medal already in 1883 during the international trade fair that was held in Klaipėda. The second - in 1927 during the show of Lithuanian agriculture in Klaipėda.  In 1998 ŠVYTURYS company was the first in Lithuania to reorganise production processes according to global quality standards. This helped to create and start producing beer that meets global quality requirements and at the same time retains the usual characteristics of real Lithuanian beer.

Ekstra Draught
Is the first non-pasteurised beer pioneering the draught beer segment in Lithuania. This supreme premium beer of 5.2% alcohol volume is produced under a unique technology, which allows it to be produced without pasteurisation and is bottled in exceptionally designed unique bottles which preserve the flavour that could previously be enjoyed only in pubs. Therefore, mild in its flavour, this beer is easily drinkable. Mild in its flavor, this beer is smooth and goes down easy.
Ekstra
ŠVYTURYS EKSTRA has a transparent golden color. When you drink it - the glass will be decorated by perfect thick white head. It is made of fresh malt, rice, bitter and aromatic hops, beer yeast and fresh water. It has an intense aroma of hops and rich long lasting taste that is empowered by slight bitterness generated by hops. Judges of the most prestigious competitions – the World Beer Cup and the World Beer Championship – awarded it with gold and silver medals in 2000 and 2001 respectively. In the competition organized by the Confederation of Lithuanian Industrialists this beer was recognized as the product of the year two years in a row – in 1997 and 1998.

Adler Bock

Adler Bock is a Bock type, naturally strong beer of a deep, rich taste made according to a special recipe whose exquisite flavour properties are determined by the long maturation process.
Constant work and overtime are becoming a rule of life; stress and duties at work, and at home, encourage one to look for a way to escape, and the desire to pamper oneself. You can do that by letting yourself enjoy the taste of Adler Bock. Historical sources claim that Bock beer has been produced and drunk in Catholic monasteries in Germany since time immemorial. Most often monks brewed it for special occasions - before Christmas or Easter. Later the production of Bock beer was also started in the most famous beer breweries in Germany from which it was exported to Scandinavia, the Konigsberg region and from 1495 to Memel, i.e. Klaipoda. Here it was popular for more than a century and local beer makers also learnt to brew it, which means that in presenting Adler Bock to the Lithuanian market we have revived the centuries-old tradition of brewing this beer in the Klaipoda region.

Utenos Original
Poured from a clear 16.9 oz. bottle. Has a light golden color with a 1/2 inch head.  Taste is crisp, malts and grains, a touch of sweetness to it. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a refreshing and very drinkable beer. The beer pours a clear golden color with a short lived white head.  Smells of corn and straw. Not much going on here in terms of malt, maybe a bit of cracker malts. A light yeast aroma and fruit esters and apple juice. Creaminess/sweetness with lots of corn. A light malt/bread note with some hints of bitterness and skunk.  Light in body, slightly watery, with a medium carbonation.
Utenos Porter
In Europe known as "Utenos Porteris". The particularly rich taste and aroma of this beer has been admired by connoisseurs for many years. Utenos Porter offers exceptional indulgence. Clear ruby pour with a thin soapy head. Mild chocolate and dark fruit on the nose. Medium to thin palate. Taste is malt, tart black cherry, and a hint of chocolate.  Clear dark reddish brown with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel, dried fruit and yeasty. Flavor is quite sweet. Dry finish. Not roasted in any way. Feels more like a Belgian with the dried fruit and yeast. With its subtle and sweet taste Utenos Porter has a rare feature as it continues to mature over time and becomes richer in flavour. Utenos Porter is made from high quality ingredients using a traditional porter recipe and the caramelized malt gives a smooth flavour and a  rich colour.
